Stamp Duty Incentive for Energy Efficient Homes
Energy Minister, Claire Perry, told BBC Radio 4 that she would be “interested” in the idea of lowering stamp duty on properties which are or have been made energy efficient. She described the idea as “one of the incentives” to encourage homeowners to implement energy-saving measures.
As the application of stamp duty is devolved around the UK this new incentive would only apply to energy efficient homes within England.
This proposal comes as part of the delayed ‘Clean Growth Plan’ which defines how the government aims to cut carbon emissions across the economy.
